Assam’s Priyanka Rajkakati in Forbes India 30 Under 30 list; Manipur’s Licypriya Kangujam in ‘2021's people to watch out for’
With a penchant for creative expression, logical reasoning, and fascination with space, Priyanka Das Rajkakati (29) is a PhD candidate specialising in aerospace engineering. Hailing from Assam, she has made headlines on several occasions. She was among the 75 women selected for Homeward Bound, a global initiative that conducts leadership expeditions for women in science to Antarctica.
This space scientist-cum-artist was selected to send her art work to the moon as a part of an international Moon Gallery project.
Her work currently involves experimentation with mixed-media art techniques and visual representation of data. She has also illustrated for magazine covers, articles and contributed designs for communication-related activities.
She is also actively involved in STEM and art outreach activities: as ambassador of the L’Oreal-UNESCO Girls in Science initiative, as member of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), as expert to the IAF Technical Committee on the Cultural Utilisation of Space (ITACCUS) and through collaborations with the EuroMoonMars initiative.
Apart from the Forbes India 30 Under 30 list, Forbes India also released a list of '2021's people to watch out for', under which Manipur’s Licypriya Kangujam gets a mention.
