#ChaloTravelTomorrow: Travel Northeast India Tomorrow,
Support Today!
As the tourism sector comes to a standstill due to the COVID-19 pandemic, states heavily dependent on tourism are hit hard.
Tourist footfalls had fallen sharply in the northeastern part of India as the nation entered into complete lockdown in the last week of March 2020. Local homestays, hotels, and restaurants are shut leading to revenue and job losses, with no sign of respite!
ChaloHoppo, an eco-tour operator, that crafts authentic local experiences with focus on alternative accommodations such as campsites, homestays, offbeat tours and travel in Northeast India, has come up with a campaign #ChaloTravelTomorrow - Travel Tomorrow, Support Today!
#ChaloTavelTomorrow
Through the campaign, they aim to reach out to their guests, travel enthusiasts, travel bloggers and supporters of the tourism industry to help ChaloHoppo support the northeastern community in whatever little way they can. The community includes those where ChaloHoppo travellers have spent some cosy and warm nights at their homestays, have tried exotic delicacies at local eateries, have travelled to the remotest corners with a local cabbie, have heard of untold myths and legends from the local expert guide, whose smile and company have uplifted their mood while trekking through the deepest woods, and the road less travelled.
“The campaign goal is to be able to support the community of drivers, guides, local travel partners and homestays, as well as our employees, by accelerating the process of bookings for a time in the near future, when travel picks up again,” says Chatan Jalan, the co-founder and Growth Strategist of ChaloHoppo.
How the campaign will work:
The company is providing the travellers with a credit policy of booking their trips with ChaloHoppo in the future by paying a minimal amount today. Moreover, they have updated the terms and conditions of the cancellation policy, allowing a much more relaxed system of cancelling, postponing or transferring one's trip.

Hoping that the support from the community they have built over the years will help them survive this setback and come back stronger, Chatan Jalan adds, “We are hoping that the situation in India stabilizes, and that domestic travel picks up by the end of November. Keeping in mind that there will have to be new sanitation protocols, and safety measures, ChaloHoppo is looking to train all our guides, hosts, and drivers so that we can provide our guests with a comfortable, safe and rejuvenating trip.”
